In a world of media conglomerates and business convergence there’s a least understood principle of divergence. Divergence is the ability for a company to specialize and harness the power of choosing a niche. Often times when a company follows this simple principle the results are outstanding. How does this apply to you buying a new business card for your new small business or established business? Because choosing the wrong business card company could become a loss of revenue or lead to your companies demise. A business card specialist is one who solely specializes in the niche of a particular business card, whether it is full color business cards, metal business cards, raised print business cards, or plastic business cards a business card specialist will specialize in their respective area. How does this benefit me, you may ask? Because a Jack of all trades printer who does full color printing, screen printing, plastic sign printing, embroidery etc; cannot be good at any one thing, because they generalize too much. While it may seem like convenience, or a way to save a few dollars the one who often suffers is your business and you. Think of it as a doctor who generalizes in everything or is a specialist in their given field of cardiology, dentistry, podiatry, pediatric care etc. Who would you want to go to for heart surgery a generalist or a heart specialist, a cardiologist? I’ll let you decide that one. Business card specialists or business card gurus often tend to be a greater initial investment while shopping for a business card, however the return is often far greater. A business card specialist will take the time to understand your business needs and objectives. They will listen to you and invest the time and energy it will take to position your product or service in a way which will make you stand out from the competition. A jack of all trades printer often tends to work on volume, therefore the cost can be lower however the service most times is very poor because they simply have too much work to understand the needs of your business, or make necessary revisions. While it’s true a 12pt business card is a 12pt business card, but when comparing business cards keep in mind a 12pt business card with an image that sells will many times lead you to greater profits versus a black and white business card or inferior business card from jack of all trades printer. Competition is fierce so make the right choice and choose a business card specialist. Your business depends on it.
