Symptoms widely vary based on the different types of allergies. Allergic reaction is usually manifested in the following organs: the nose, sinuses, eyes, airways, ears, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. To group off the different types of allergies based on the kind of symptoms each produces, they will be divided into three basic manifestations: respiratory, skin, and anaphylaxis. Rhinitis and asthma belong to the respiratory types of allergies. Their symptoms usually occur in the nose, sinuses, and airways of a person. For instance, rhinitis triggers reaction in the internal part of the nose, so that a person may suffer from a drippy nose, sneezing fits, and an irritated throat. Asthma, meanwhile, involves the air passage way in a way that an attack may cause shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, and tightness of the chest. Antihistamines and decongestants are some of the allergy relief products that can address these two illnesses. Skin allergies, on the other hand, usually manifest themselves in the form of rashes. Some of the more common skin allergies are eczema, which is an inflamed thick rash that sometimes scales off; urticaria, which is an itchy rash that can be as small as pimples or as big as irritated insect bites; and contact dermatitis, which results in swollen rashes that may even ooze fluid and is sometimes caused by exposure to poisonous plants or highly allergenic materials. Skin allergy sufferers must refrain from touching their rashes. They can treat the irritation with allergy relief products such as specific salves or ointments. These types of allergies that involve the skin may call for consultation with a professional. Anaphylaxis is a very serious allergy symptom. There are several types of allergies that can cause anaphylactic shock, which can kill a person if not addressed immediately. Anaphylactic shock may be caused by eating shellfish, eggs, and nuts; being stung by some insects; and being given antibiotics. Hypotension (low blood pressure), losing consciousness, angioedema (swelling of the face and neck), vomiting, and respiratory distress are some symptoms of anaphylaxis. There are allergy relief products specifically designed to counter anaphylaxis, but they must be given immediately to the victim. Being informed about the types of allergies and the different allergy relief products can be very beneficial, directly or indirectly, to you. You may not be suffering from allergies yourself, but odds are, you do know somebody who does. Knowing the basics will allow you to help others when the time comes and, perhaps, even save the day.
