The South Beach diet is among the most widely used methods of losing weight today. It is built around diet and exercise changes that help you achieve realistic weight loss goals. By cutting out "bad" fats and carbohydrates and eating plenty of "good" ones, dieters can lose weight without feeling deprived or sacrificing their health.

There are three steps in the South Beach program. During stage one, dieters can't eat any carbohydrates except for vegetables. Although many foods are not allowed, dieters still have a variety of foods they can consume. Phase one is the most difficult stage, but also the shortest since it only takes fourteen days. Dieters are expected to lose 10 pounds during this stage.

In the second phase, dieters begin reintroducing the previously banned carb-rich foods into their diet. Dieters can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds each week while steadily raising the amount of carbohydrates they eat. Phase two lasts until dieters reach their target weight.

Phase three is the lifetime maintenance stage. Dieters take the strategies from the second phase to keep their desired weight throughout the duration of their lives. If dieters start to gain weight, they are able to go back to the first phase of the program.

You've likely seen ready-made South Beach meals and snacks in the grocery store. These items are handy, but you don't need to buy them in order to follow the diet. You only need to commit to the different general rules for each stage of the diet.

During stage one of the diet, you can enjoy lean meats, such as chicken, fish, and turkey, eggs, nuts, most vegetables, and a limited quantity of low-fat dairy products. Fruits and their juices are avoided during this stage because they are high in sugar. Also banned are all carbohydrates, fatty meats, alcohol, and certain vegetables that are rather high in sugar or carbohydrate content, such as corn. The function of this stage is to cut "bad" carbohydrates from your diet and start the weight loss process.

During phase two, dieters gradually reintroduce fruit, whole grains, and other formerly prohibited foods into their diet. In the process, dieters learn how to balance their diet to keep a desirable weight. Once this is successfully completed, the diet switches into the life maintenance stage, in which dieters attempt to maintain the healthy strategies that brought them to their goal weight.

The factor for success with the South Beach program is dedication to eating healthy. Although that seems simple, this diet program and many other diet programs fail because dieters abandon the diet before the program can produce results. The struggles that most people have with losing weight often result from deep-rooted issues such as a lack of drive to lose weight, a tendency to binge on food, or out-of-control appetite. The good news is that all of these issues are treatable with techniques that anyone can learn from a good hypnosis weight loss CD program.

To reverse a lack of motivation, a technique from a technology called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) will help give you a strong urge to stick to your weight loss goals.

Motivation is produced by what we believe, not by logic! So in the above example, let's say that the dieter's most valued criterion is that the dieter's kids are safe and happy. Using an NLP tool called Submodalities, we can guide the dieter into feeling that if she or he fails to lose weight, the kids will be fated to follow the parent's lead and they will also be fat and unhappy. This belief will give a strong urge and feeling to stay on the diet and get the weight off.

Several NLP techniques can help to reduce or even completely remove the urges and cravings that compel one to eat too much. This works very effectively to help dieters stick to the initial and most challenging weeks of the South Beach diet. It also helps dieters stick to an exercise program, which will enhance the usefulness of any weight loss program.

Stress is a problem that frequently drives people to eat too much or neglect their health, but relief is offered by both hypnosis and NLP practices. One such tool is called the NLP Flash.
