A short time ago I was working on a project for a client who had just built a new home in the Phoenix Arizona area. As most people who live in this part of the country know, all (or at least most) of the housing built here is of Spanish Architecture. The living room was furnished in an American Indian theme and the family room was furnished in a Spanish design. The walls in the living room had American Indian art and the walls of the family room has family portraits and on one wall, a medium size Spanish tapestry on another wall and a large flat panel TV on another wall. There was only one last finishing touch needed to be done to complete the wall decorating of both rooms. The addition of 2 wooden wall sconce candle holders. One on each side of an American Indian oil painting that was hanging in the living room. The tapestry in the family room, being Spanish, was in need of a wrought iron wall candle holder placed on each side of this amazing woven work of art. There is no excuse to have an empty wall anywhere in your house. There are so many ways to decorate and add your personality to shine and light up with style. Interior lighting refers to all lighting within a building that is not exposed to the elements. Wall sconces are fixtures that have only one light. They should be functional and support the overall design of the room. It creates a welcoming atmosphere with its illumination, color and design. It can provide soft romantic lighting or bright enough lighting to read by. It fits in wherever space is needed and provides that decorative touch that we all desire. It will even make your room larger than it is. Another great feature of the wall sconce is that it is capable of highlighting other artwork or function as a gentle aura of light to accent features of the room such as your fireplace. This will also direct the eyes to the spot you want yourself and others to notice. You can easily mount the sconces to your wall with little or no installation needed. For the electrical sconces there is some installation needed, but with these you can easily save on energy with a dimmer switch. You can also have Candle Wall Sconces in any size, color or scent that you wish. In early American society the candle wall sconce was the only form of lighting. Today wall sconces are in use in every room of the home and on the outside walls as well. One of my relatives has a candle holder wall sconce system where the candle actually floats on water placed in clear a glass container. To create brighter surrounding try using votive or taper wall sconces. For a soft romantic mood and feel try tea light candles to set up the atmosphere for the night ahead. My niece has a couple of toddlers and purchased several of these because they are high enough up on the walls to be child proof. She has told me time and again how much safer she feels using the sconces instead of lamps with all the electrical cords. There are so many styles to choose from such as Victorian, Colonial, Contemporary and Western. There are also many materials to choose from like copper, metal, wrought iron, glass, ceramic and others. This is something that will stay within almost any budget. Inexpensive and expensive styles are all available and you will not be able to tell the difference. Only your wallet will know for sure. It used to be that hallways and corridors were the only place you would find these in, but not any more. If you want to create a Wow factor with direct or indirect lighting, you can't lose with the Wall Sconce.
