The sounds of voice talent is everywhere. In fact, your world is probably inundated with it, and chances are, you don't even notice it. Or at least you didn't before you started considering one of them. If you are wondering why you never noticed voice over artists before, it's because you are not supposed to. One of the most interesting things about being voice talent is the ability to grab someone's attention while at the same time diverting their attention from the artist to the service being described. That sounds a bit odd when you begin to really ponder it, doesn't it? If you try to create these results yourself, you are only going to wind up drawing the listener’s attention to you and away from your product, which ain’t very good. That's the biggest reason you need to hire a professional if you are in need of a voiceover. Consider the vast number of places that voice overs show up, and that is after thinking about jingles and T.V.. But you can use voice actors to announce your special event or your commercial website. Hey, you can even use a voice-actor to tell the world about your personal website if you want it to be known badly enough. Many people wind up voicing those types of projects for themselves. Perhaps it's because they don't think of them as important enough to hire someone. In that case, why are they doing it at all? If it's worth your attention, it is worth doing right. For example, if you want to put together an audio book, don’t even think about voicing it yourself - unless, of course, you’ve got a professional-grade voice. And most people simply don't. Then you have corporate and educational videos, that can be very useful and can be extremely - if done correctly. If you have good material, and people enjoy listening to the speaker, then you have a message that can bring you some success. But if those same listeners can't stand listening to the voice for one reason or another, then you are out of luck. “I’m talking to people with this voice all the time!” you may say. True, but people will deal with a lot more in person than they will endure on a recording. And are people paying to actually to listen to you talk at this point? Probably not. If they are, then stop reading here. This article is not for you. You might be under the impression that using an amateur or doing it yourself will save you money. At the outset, yes, but if this is a for-profit venture you are planning, it will actually cost you more money in the long run. Sounding silly can cost you the respect of the buyers you are trying to impress. People are more likely to spend their money with businesses who give the impression that they know what they are doing. If they hear you doing a terrible job in a recording, as so many wannabes do, then they’re going to have second thoughts about spending their money with you.
