In this modern technological age and time, some people are still reluctant to make use of existing technologies to make distance learning easier. Don’t be like such people if you want the best from distance learning. Certificate courses are becoming popular as part and parcel of distance learning programs. Some people erroneously assume that distance learning is child’s play because of its structure. In reality, distance learning students have more to contend with than on-campus students. What matters is that they are certified to present the diplomas and degrees that they do, and that they maintain a high level of integrity in their operations. When you come across a name you don’t know very well, or a course that sounds too bogus to be true, then your instinct is probably right. You should do your background research, or better still, back off when you have the chance. The biggest challenge that distance learning faces today is that of writing and monitoring examinations. Since there is no way to be entirely certain that the student is not cheating, many critics argue that there is little integrity in the awards that are… awarded. Research indicates that students of distance learning are as brilliant as students of an on campus program. Being a product of a distant learning program does not make you less of a student than a person who learns within a campus setting. Distance learning degrees are becoming more and more recognized these days. FM radio remains popular in developing nations, especially for distance education. This is in spite of the advent of LCD and plasma screen television, PDAs, the Internet, and all the rest. Sometimes people don’t want to let go of the past, other times, it’s simply all they know. What is important though is that knowledge continues to grow.
