Some remedies that were used in my grandmothers days. STINGS AND BITES. Stung by stinging nettles, rub with Dock leaves on the effected areas, this will take away the stinging sensation. Insect, wasp stings etc.use Vinager and dab on the sting, this will relieve the pain. SUNBURN. Bathe burnt and sore areas with milk,this will help to sooth the skin. STRESS. And now an old faithful,a strong cup of tea, when stressed or upset, a great pick me up. Listed below are some herbs and plants that my granny has possibly never heard of, but never the less they have many uses and benefits. VALERIAN. A herb that has been around for many hundreds of years, used as a sedative to assist sleeping disorders and to calm nervous anxiety, also helps to reduce muscle tension. TURMERIC. The root is used in chinese herbal medicines to treat liver problems such as jaundice and bloating. TRIBULIUS TERRESTRIS. An indian plant that helps to improve the sex drive in men,used as a general male tonic and to reduce high blood pressure' RHODIOLA. An alpine plant, another plant that has been around for many hundreds of years, used to improve alertness, memory,stamina and sleep. GOTUKOLA. Another herb,also known as Brahmi, helps in the healing of burns, wounds, ulcers, and the treatment of varicose veins. When used in oral form it helps relieve anxiety, depression and to relax muscles. SIBIERIAN GINSENG. A shrub from Russia,China,Korea and Japan, another great help to the body in times of stress,used widely to improve stamina and strenghth.
