A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Injuries that affect your skin will end in some level of scarring. Scarring is an outcome of the natural curative process of our skin and the appearance of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the wound.
How does scarring occur and how can we treat our skin to eliminate scars?
As stated in the introduction, scarring is the natural curative process of an injury. The skin is left with a scar when the thicker and deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the seriousness of the injury.
Any time our skin gets injured by, for example an acne infection or a cut, a number of different cells come to the rescue. This is the body's own way of shielding itself from harm. It is a very complex curative process that usually causes scarring.
The process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which create clots to minimize blood loss. A scab or crust will shape over the top of the injury. This will act as a protective barrier against foreign substances, protecting the system whilst repairing the problem.
To repair the damage, the body has to accumulate new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is produced by our system. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen is more abundant and more randomly arranged.
This process results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body cannot exactly reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to have a different appearance and texture than the surrounding healthy skin tissue. Scar tissue is commonly of minor functional quality and less resistant to ultraviolet rays. It is also barren of sweat glands and hair follicles.
Do you have a Scar?
Skin affected by injuries will without doubt be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you use a treatment balm to avoid possible scar formation. Other occurrences that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion solution that uses skin renewal activators and gentle physical abrasives will efficiently remove tough and rough scars.
Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body makes an effort heal wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to use a microdermabrasion cream to help the skin to correctly remove scars.
