Online Business Brain Dump - Limit Your Sources

Author:  Brent Riggs   2007-10-22  Word Count: 433  Category: Marketing  Print  Copy

There are plenty of companies that claim to have 100,000 or even 1,000,000 products available for you to sell. Warning...be careful!

It is difficult enough to effectively market and advertise when you have 10 products, much less 10,000.

You have heard of small companies who grow too big, too quickly. That can be a real concern when you are a small online business.

The key is to stay focused! It is much easier to become an "expert" in your field if you have a narrow product line to work with. It is better because you are then able to FOCUS all of your efforts on it. You'll want to make your business a niche' market and capitalize on it.

It might seem wise to sell "everything under the sun," but it is actually better to specialize in a specific, quality product. This will be more profitable for you than trying to carry a little bit of everything in your inventory. Attempting to meet all customers' needs by selling to EVERY shopper online is crazy!

One option is to find a drop-shipping source that you can feel confident in because they dedicate themselves to drop-shipping specifically. A wonderful resource for finding drop ship suppliers who will ship the products to your customers after you've already sold the item is http://www.worldwidebrands.com.

They offer many quality products on their website, and you will be able to learn more about drop shipping in general. Many other businesses offer drop shipping services, but it is not their primary focus. Their drop shipping services seem to be a side business because their primary market is bulk wholesale.

Once you've located a source to work with, it's possible that their tools and support for their distributors are lacking.

Even worse, the tools and support may not exist at all! For instance, you might need access to inventory counts, quality images and descriptions from downloadable catalogs, and online package tracking. If these services are not available, you might consider looking elsewhere.
