Lots of people move to Asheville, NC and lots of people move away from Asheville. In fact so many people move away that the almost unending waves of newcomers barely balance out the exodus numbers. However, those same schools ensure that there is always such a large population of therapists in the city that most new graduates must move elsewhere in order to escape inordinately high competition in the massage field, or else develop their skills to a highly advanced level with relative speed so as to garner a loyal client base which will empower them to remain financially secure enough to remain in the Asheville area long after massage school has been completed. Economics keeps the population in constant flux with new folks arriving as other folks move away, but excellent local educational programs, like the Asheville Massage School help ensure that Asheville is constantly attracting new short term citizens who help boost the local economy with their tuitions and living expenses. Since the money spent on tuition, rent, utilities, food, etc. are mostly covered by money that the students bring to Asheville after it has been earned elsewhere, these schools are great for Asheville's economy, regularly bringing new cash flows into the local economy that the "regular" economy can not attract.
