Diabetes is a disease that develops, due to a problem with the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas. Insulin, controls the glucose in the blood, and how much glucose is absorbed by the cells; which in turn use glucose to produce energy. When insulin is not present, or the body is not using it properly, glucose can't enter the cells, and stays in the bloodstream producing hyperglycemia, or excess of sugar (glucose) in the blood.

Curry leaves also controls diabetes. Chew 8-10 curry leaves in an empty stomach. This will be very effective in bringing the sugar level in urine and blood to normal. It is also beneficial to hereditary diabetic patients.

Indian gooseberry, a rich source of vitamin C serves as the best home remedy for diabetes. Take 1 tbsp of gooseberry juice and mix it with a cup of bitter gourd juice. Consume the mixture daily for about 2 months.

Natural Diabetes Treatment with Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) also helps to strengthen the blood vessels, making them more flexible and less likely to break. In addition, ginkgo improves blood flow to the extremities, making it very helpful for improving the poor circulation that often occurs with diabetes. Take an extract standardized for 24 percent ginkgo flavoglycosides, 40 to 80 milligrams three times per day.

Two teaspoons of powdered Fenugreek seeds with milk, or swallowing two seeds of Fenugreek helps in reducing the blood sugar level.

Put mango leaves in a glass of water and let it stand for a few hours, then take the leaves out and keep the mango water in the refrigerator. Every morning, before you eat anything, drink 1 cup of the mango water you made.

Coccinia indica is also known as the ‘ivy gourd’ and grows wild across the Indian subcontinent. Traditionally employed in ayurverdic remedies, the herb has been found to contain insulin-mimetic properties (i.e; it mimics the function of insulin.) Significant changes in glycaemic control have been reported in studies involving coccinia indica, and experts believe that it should be studied further.

A decoction of the leaves of the blueberry has a long history of folk use in the treatment of diabetes. The compound myrtillin (an anthocyanoside) is apparently the most active ingredient. Upon injection it is somewhat weaker than insulin, but is less toxic, even at 50 times the 1 g per day therapeutic dose. A single dose can produce beneficial effects lasting several weeks.
