The recent success of High School Musical 2 sent fans into a frenzy as it aired this weekend in the Disney Channel. The cast has been blessed with yet another hit, however, rumors have it that a couple of Wildcats—or kittens—have been in a cat fight. In the movie, Gabriella and Sharpay are rivals, but did this rivalry just spill into reality? Rumors are circulating that Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale are not on good terms right now, but Tisdale was quick to deny the news. "She is one of my closest and bestest friends," Ashley Tisdale said in a conversation with the New York Daily News last week. The reason behind the supposed conflict was not clear. Tisdale has been enjoying the limelight and the paparazzi's attention in Malibu while Hudgens and co-star Zac Efron have a relationship that most say is moving too fast. Some co-stars have even suggested that they slow down a notch. Perhaps these rumors spawned from the rivalry of two rising female stars, just like what happened in the past years. Think teen queens Hillary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, and pop princesses Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens are both products of the High School Musical fame and are currently in the process of pursuing their musical careers. In 2006, Hudgens released her solo album entitled V, which included hit tracks "Say OK" and "Come Back to Me." This year, Tisdale released her own album entitled Headstrong, which included tracks such as "Be Good to Me" and "He Said She Said." Tisdale immediately denied reports of the drift between her and Hudgens, not paying attention to the reason behind it. The two girls have been friends since the first High School Musical, which was released in 2006. "People always try to compare me and Vanessa to each other, and it's so weird," Tisdale said. "We're always laughing when people pit us against one another in magazines, like 'Vanessa versus Ashley: The Feud!'" The two girls will be working together soon on High School Musical 3, where they will reprise their roles. Right now, Tisdale is in the process of lending her voice to the new animated Disney show Phineas and Ferb while Hudgens will most probably focus on her musical career.
