Safety Is Shoei’s Number One Priority Does safety mean as much to you as it does to us? Then you’re in for a safe ride. We at Shoei know what it takes to keep you safe. But how do we do it? Well let’s find out. Shoei started in 1954 as a construction safety helmet producer. But when in 1958 the first motorcycle helmet was invented, we jumped right on the band wagon. Safety has and will always be our number one priority. We have spent many years and an enormous amount of money on research in order to keep our number one costumer (that’s you) safe. We have found many first and exiting new ideas over the years, but what we have in store for you in the 2009 season is really something special. But before we reveal what that might be, let’s see what shoei has out there right now ready to protect your head. First and foremost we have to make a distinction between which helmet will do what job at what kind of accident. You see, it makes a difference if one rides a moped, a scooter, or a speed bike. Even if one rides a dirt bike a different helmet might be desired. So let’s start with what the differences are. When someone drives a moped and has a shoei moped helmet, it is built to withstand an accident at a max speed of about 40 to 45 kilometers an hour. But if one rides a speed bike, the moped helmet will do nothing for you. Even worse, it can actually make the crash worse, and here’s why. A helmet is built to split open at a certain speed. When someone is only driving 45 kilometers an hour, the helmet is supposed to break open. However, if one is cruising down the road at a 100 plus k/p/h, that helmet has to react a lot different at the moment of impact. Let’s say that you ride a dirt bike. When riding a dirt bike, accidents are so much more likely to happen. For this reason, a big part of our research is done on the dirt track. But accidents are not the only worry on our or your mind. Just think of all the vibrations that come off your bike and travel up to your head. So a comfortable fit and a good safety locking system is also very important. And let’s not forget about the visor, and all that mud that can come flying up. We have developed a great sliding visor screen so that you can just click a button and a fresh visor screen is presented. So when you are ready to pick up your new helmet, do ask about the add-ons that we have developed for your new Shoei helmet. We carry almost anything you can think of, from helmet cams to intercom units. And for the snowmobilers, we have a special anti freezing visor available. So let your wish be our command here at shoei.
