The common idea that certain foods can cause acne is a controversial topic. This hot issue is surrounded by many acne diet myths. Naturally these hormones are found at varying levels in the final dairy and butchery/poultry products. Steroids, both corticosteroid and anabolics are known to exacerbate and induce acne vulgaris, not only on the face, but also on the back and front of the trunk. Acne, vitamins and minerals A number of studies have proven the beneficial actions of some minerals and vitamins on acne. These are Vitamin A, Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium and Essential Fatty Acids (Omega 3). There are many food items which contain these vitamins and trace elements. Also, there are conflicting reports on Vitamin E and B Complex Vitamins, some studies finding a beneficial effect on acne while others stating that high amounts of these vitamins actually exacerbate the acne eruptions.
