As the bathroom is one of the most used rooms in your home, there can be no argument that it should also have a great design. Personally, I think it should be created as one of the most pleasant rooms in your house, most especially since designing trends lately have been moving towards recreating the bathroom as a personal and private hideaway. Nowadays the selection of options and alternatives in bathroom design is getting bigger than ever before. There are lots of interesting new materials, designer fixtures and new tile and paint colors available. With all these options, it has become easier to turn your bathroom into a private and comfortable sanctuary, rather than just a collection of porcelain fixtures. Here are some ideas to make your bathroom more into a designer showcase. Consider using shelving made out of something other than wood or metal. If you’re looking for a unique look, try wicker or plastic for your shelving and seating. You should also try to mix and match a variety of colors when choosing flooring, tiles and paint. If you don’t know yet, there are now faucets, porcelain fixtures, and toilets that come in designer colors and styles. When choosing your colors for your bathroom make sure that they compliment each other, and bear in mind how they will look when combined with your bathroom accessories and accents. Speaking of bathroom accents, sometimes all you really need to spruce up your bathroom is a fabulous shower curtain. Countless fun and unique designs can be found in specialized home and bathroom décor stores, and they also come in a variety of materials. You might also want to make your bathroom cozier by adding plenty of potted plants, flowers in a vase or even a rocking chair with pillows. Using materials like leather and fur in your bathroom accents and furniture will really add an exotic flavor. Consider giving your bathroom some kind of theme. A beach or riverside theme can be very attractive. You can even buy bathroom tiles that are made of real river stones or seashells suspended in acrylic. You could dress a wall with sandstone or sparkling plaster. A serene and placid ambience can be further enhanced by adding a small, trickling pool or fountain. If you are lacking inspiration to create a bathroom design, you may not realize that the ideas are often right under your nose. If you’ve ever been to a fancy restaurant or a fine hotel, then you’ve seen how bathroom spaces can be creatively used, often with amazing results. Other good places to find creative ideas are remodeling magazines, or even browse the Internet. One thing I really like about magazines is that you can get an idea of what the hot and trendy bathroom designs are. You can also get all kinds of information and tips on how to redesign your bathroom creatively, even when you’re on a budget.
