When you get irritated your dog will sense it and won't respond correctly. This always makes it more difficult to work with them. You need to remember to show them love. If you start with a healthy relationship in the beginning it will bless you for their entire life. You need to see this as something that benefits both of you. Even though you are teaching them to fit into your environment, they will be more than ready to please you. All that is necessary is to do the basics such as potty training, no begging, proper behavior around your guests, and so on. Anything more than that is a bonus. If you desire to teach them some tricks then you have already started with a solid foundation of love and friendship. When it is done, you will both be much happier.
